This policy applies to information we collect about visitors to our website, people who do business with us and people who apply for our programmes. Your privacy is vitally important to us, and so is being transparent about how we collect, use and share information about you.

This Privacy Policy sets out the privacy practices for Quite Interesting Ltd (“QI Ltd”), a company incorporated in the United Kingdom with company number 3867016 and QITV Ltd (“QITV Ltd”), company number 9054353, where the registered office for both companies is at BSG Valentine, Lynton House, 7-12 Tavistock Square, London WC1H 9BQ United Kingdom (“we”, “us”, “our”), and applies to our websites www.qi.com, www.qitv.co.uk, www.nosuchthingasafish.co.uk and www.nosuchthingasthenews.co.uk (the “Sites”) and any subdomains and services we offer (together with the Site, the “Services”). We are the controller of personal data obtained via our Sites, meaning we are the organisation legally responsible for deciding how and for what purposes it is used. By visiting the Sites or using our Services you agree to be bound by the terms and conditions of this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree please do not use or access our Sites or Services.

1. The information we collect about you

We collect, use and are responsible for certain personal data about you. When we do so we are subject to the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR). [We are also subject to the EU General Data Protection Regulation (EU GDPR) in relation to goods and services we offer to individuals

We may collect personal data from you. Personal data may include your name, postal address, email address, telephone number amongst other things. The personal data we collect will be provided by you directly or indirectly as described in the section below.

Competitions/Prize draws: We may ask you for your name, email address and address so that we can contact you in the event of a win. Contact details and any additional information, such as photos or copies of proof of purchase, will be deleted on completion of the competition.

Given the nature of our Sites, we do not expect to collect the personal data of anyone under [13] years old. If you are aware that any personal data of anyone under 13 years old has been shared with our Sites please let us know so that we can delete that data.

2. How your personal data is collected

We collect personal data from you:

● directly, when you enter or send us information, such as when you contact us (including via email), send us feedback, purchase products or services via our Sites, post material to our website and complete customer surveys or participate in competitions via our Sites, and

● We also collect personal data about you from other sources as follows: people applying for our shows and people applying for our shows via a third party website. 

3. How we will use your personal data

We gather this information to allow us to provide the services requested. The relevant information is then used by us to communicate with you on any matter relating to you. You are in control of what we do with your given information unless we specifically state our intentions regarding that information.

4. Legal Requirements

QI Ltd and QITV Ltd cooperates with government and law enforcement inquiries, and in response to a genuine request by law enforcement or other government officials we can share personal data about you, if we determine such disclosure is reasonably necessary to comply with the law.

5. Cookies and other information-gathering technologies

Our Sites use cookies. Cookies are text files placed on your computer to collect standard Internet log information and visitor behaviour information. These cookies allow us to distinguish you from other users of the website which helps us to provide you with a good experience when you browse our website and also allows us to improve our Sites.

We will, once we receive your personal data, use strict procedures and security features to prevent unauthorised access.

7. How long your personal data will be kept

We will not keep your personal data for longer than we need it for the purpose for which it is used. 

8. Access to your information and updating and correcting your information

You have the right to request a copy of the information that we hold about you. If you would like a copy of some or all of your personal data, please send an email to gdpr@qi.com or send a letter to us at our registered office. We want to ensure that your personal datais accurate and up to date. If any of the information that you have provided to Quite Interesting Ltd/QITV Ltd changes, for

example if you change your email address or name, please let us know the correct details by sending an email to your usual contact. You may ask us, or we may ask you, to correct information you or we think is inaccurate, and you may also ask us to remove information which is inaccurate. Should you want to be ‘forgotten’, simply ask us to delete any data by emailing your instructions to gdpr@qi.com.

9. Your consent

By submitting your personal data you consent to the use of that information as set out in this policy. 10. Changes to privacy policy

We keep our privacy policy under regular review. If we make significant changes we will take steps to inform you, for example by including a prominent link to a description of those changes on our Sites for a reasonable period or by other means, such as email, so that you may be aware of the information we collect and how we use it at all times. This privacy policy was last updated on 20th June 2021 to comply with the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).

11. Links to other websites

Our Sites may contain links to other websites. This privacy policy applies only to the Sites so when you access links to other websites you should read their own privacy policies.
